Anyway, this is the email I got as I woke up this morning detailing the free 60 days I received as thanks to waiting it out over the .Mac to MobileMe switchover, which totally didn’t bug me in the slightest.

With the data that eweek posted today, the question arrives; do you really pay more for a Mac? My opinion is a NO. People who buy a Mac buy reasonably configured computer (yes, even the Macbook Air). The statistics are surprising, but are probably why Apple is doing so well at the moment.

Someone who buys an Apple computer knows what they want something of quality. This ends up giving Apple users a better computer on average than a PC buyer. It also means Apple’s profit margins tend to be a bit higher, as they’re not about budget computers, unlike companies such as Dell, Gateway, etc.

This gap may increase thanks to netbooks such as Asus’ EEE PC and MSI’s Wind, but Apple’s goals are not the same as PC vendors.

I know it’s not their intellectual property but I really wish Hasbro thought about buying the game out from the developers rather than screwing it up for a load of people who lost their game in the process of the IP battle.

The official version of the scrabble game might actually get some people playing it, finally.

It’s nearly identical to my “old” iPhone, but I got the larger 16gb version in black. If I was going to get an upgrade I was going to put a decent size bump on the 8gb i was struggling with (squeezing an iTunes library down from 117gb to 8 is crazy difficult for me). The build quality is there, but I feel as if it’s good but not as good as the original, mainly due to the plastic back.

The software upgrade is pretty good and I’ve downloaded a few of my favourite applications, including Twitterrific Premium and Super Monkey Ball. The Facebook, Remote, Shazam and AIM apps are good, Tap Tap is a bit of a laugh though, it’s a shame it can’t get in to the iPod section of your iPhone/iPod Touch now.

The speed boost is pretty good around me, although it’s not brilliant in the middle of the countryside or out in the rural towns near where I live. If i sit on the bus to work, the speed of the 3g only kicks in about a mile from my house, which I don’t find a problem seeing as I have wifi.

Battery life isn’t improved, neither is the camera. Both of these are things I can live with. I don’t go for more than a day without getting near power and I carry a Canon 40D with me at all times.

iPhone app copy protection has been broken now, but the method to install the applications is still complex (until someone makes an installer for them) although I don’t yet see any reason to jailbreak my iPhone any more.

The iPhone 3G has already been hacked, so if you want to do something fun with it then you’ve got an easy tool coming just round the corner.

Download this browser if you’re on windows, if you’re on a mac, just download it to help them hit a world record. Better bookmarking and address bar, along with speed boosts are some of the biggest positive changes. Shame about the new look styling though.

They’re perfect, save for not having a clicker for changing track/answering calls on my iPhone, they’re the best headphones I’ve ever had. Best thing about them would have to be either the leather case they come with, or the Bang and Olufsen customer service.

Everyone saw it coming, but it’s here now (well, the 11th of july at least). Improvements over the last model include 

• 3g data
• 2.0 software, including the app store
• Assisted GPS
• Non-recessed headphone jack (finally getting B&O headphones)
• price drop (free to some)

If that wasn’t enough, o2 customers in the UK who are on a £45 or more contract every month get a free upgrade to the new one, this includes me, so I’m getting the new one and keeping my old one to play with/hack.

Seems okay to me, hasn’t given me any speed boost though. Guess I’ll need that macbook pro after all.
