Firefox 3 is out

Download this browser if you’re on windows, if you’re on a mac, just download it to help them hit a world record. Better bookmarking and address bar, along with speed boosts are some of the biggest positive changes. Shame about the new look styling though.

Inquisitor bought by Yahoo!

Looking to be something of an odd acquisition for Yahoo!, everyone’s favourite safari plug-in, Inquisitor has been snapped up as a “search assistant” (or to get Yahoo as the default on a few more people’s copies of safari). It’s a bit of a shame, but I liked the google default. Congrats to David Watanabe on the sale of it [...]

Apple makes windows software update easier for idiots.

Showing that people think windows users are idiots and need everything spelt out to them, Apple changed their windows software update program so that it now shows what is new software. It is, however, still checked by default so there will probably be some outcry about it still. Everyone’s doing it, installing things you don’t [...]

Newsgator, makers of NetNewsWire have released it as free, as of its latest release  (3.1). Not only have Newsgator allowed unfettered access to their app, but also their online service as well, which is a pretty nice add-on if you’ve got more than one mac.
I’ve found that NetNewsWire has been the best mac RSS reader [...]

Shooting yourself in the foot: Windows XP gets faster with SP3, Vista Slower with SP1

A group called Devil Mountain Systems has claimed that Windows XP service pack 3 is somewhere in the range of 10% faster than service pack 2, even calling it a “must-have update”. Vista, on the other hand, looks to be covered with more DRM or something because it’s not getting any quicker. XP seems a [...]

Third Party iPhone Apps. (in february)

Steve Jobs, Apple’s Co-Founder today addressed a post to iPhone users, stating that the iPhone will be opened up with a third-party SDK “by February. This will allow for Apple to patch holes in the iPhone’s OS and document the internals of the stripped down OS X operating system so that developers can code for the device natively.
