The One Laptop Per Child Program, in efforts to spread sub-$200 computers to schoolchildren in developing countries, has reached a milestone with the start of mass production.
The nonprofit spinoff from MIT said assembly lines for its “XO” laptops were fired up on Tuesday at a Quanta Computer factory in China. Meaning children (and donors) should begin getting the [...]
Seeing as everyone thinks plasma is a large TV, LG decided to go back to 1998 and make a 32″ plasma display, I fail to see why, because it will be more expensive then it’s competitors lower priced LCDs, but if you just have to be anal about what technology your TV uses, then i [...]
This kind of works like an iPod dock, but with larger drives. 3.5″ and 2.5″ sata drives are supported, which makes it perfect for anyone who wants to do some serious archival or data recovery. They’re priced at $46.79, so if you want to buy one, head over to geekstuff4u.com
Seagate launched it’s first 5400rpm drive with 256MB of added flash, unfortunately, these drives don’t seem to improve the boot time of the laptops tested, reducing only from 40 to 32 seconds, nothing near what Microsoft was touting when they announced the feature at Vista’s launch.
Fon and BT are partnering together for a service most likely to involve BT’s current arsenal of WiFi hotspots and Fon’s ability to make money off people who want free WiFi at the hotspots. Sounds like a great plan, but what sounds really nice is the La Fonero router that Fon supplies. It’s perfect for DD-WRT.
Even J Allard looks less than impressed with the new Zune, Bill just looks like he’s nervous as usual, because there’s a camera stealing his soul. The new zune gets rid of it’s predecessors faux clickwheel and replaces it with another, oddly clickwheel-esque button, this time, it’s touch sensitive. The screen has gotten bigger, albeit with the [...]
Gibson’s courtship of the self-tuning setup’s vendor, tronical, has been going on for a good while. Whilst the company’s main product has been available as an add-on for guitars, it’s never had the option direct from the manufacturer.
Their system uses 6 extra pickups, one directly under each string, to calibrate the guitar back to perfect [...]
Coming out on December 1st, this 1,000,000:1 brightness, 3mm thick TV has to be the thinnest and brightest commercially available.
At only 11 inches diagonal, it’s not exactly massive, and with a resolution of only 960×540, it’s not going to replace the 46″ sharp 1080p screen in my lounge, but for the people who have to get 1st [...]
Now this is a great idea, coffee from your fridge. Not only do you get the ice and water from it, but espresso too. They’ve even built in something to keep things fresher than usual using some sort of 6th sense. It’s not out until january next year, and will probably have a massive price [...]
This thing is just crazy, i want one even though i don’t touch discs unless it’s to rip them.
