New MacBook Pro / MacBook Models

Apple finally announced their “brick” process to the public (turns out it had been sitting under our noses in the form of the MacBook Air for a while now though). The process involves machining all of the top chassis from a MacBook or MacBook Pro out of a singular block of aluminium. Lighter and cooler looking laptops come from this, which is always a good thing.

An even better thing is that they have finally incorporated the nearly-two-year-old MacBook keyboard on to the MacBook Pro line, getting rid of the only reason I hadn’t bought one at the time I got my MacBook. Gone is Firewire in the “standard” model, I emphasised ”standard” there because that’s nearly all that’s standard about it. Apple has dropped Intel for discrete graphics and decided to opt for the vastly superior Nvidea 9400M chipset, which gives a substantial boost for people who don’t want the larger screen but want the added performance.
