08.06Do you pay twice as much for a Mac?
With the data that eweek posted today, the question arrives; do you really pay more for a Mac? My opinion is a NO. People who buy a Mac buy reasonably configured computer (yes, even the Macbook Air). The statistics are surprising, but are probably why Apple is doing so well at the moment.
Someone who buys an Apple computer knows what they want something of quality. This ends up giving Apple users a better computer on average than a PC buyer. It also means Apple’s profit margins tend to be a bit higher, as they’re not about budget computers, unlike companies such as Dell, Gateway, etc.
This gap may increase thanks to netbooks such as Asus’ EEE PC and MSI’s Wind, but Apple’s goals are not the same as PC vendors.
