Some developers are gaining early access to the iPhone SDK, according to reliable sources speaking to Electronista. A handful of devs are said to be getting beta or pre beta versions of the tools to help code applications than would be impossible with the current web-only option. Exact details of what the kit allows are unknown so far, though it is confirmed that it produces native programs and somewhat resembles Google’s OpenSocial in that it mediates between the programmer and the iPhone operating system, so root access is probably unlikely.
