IE7 drops WGA due to lack of interest

Microsoft dropped the WGA (windows genuine advantage) requirement for Internet Explorer 7 because the uptake on the browser has been so low, considering it is a critical update, not something that can just be ignored.

It’s probably because there’s another hoop to go through, or that Microsoft are so anal about people pirating their operating system. WGA also fails and gives out false positives for who is really a pirate, leaving tens of millions unable to upgrade past things that require WGA.

Maybe it’s Microsoft finally realizing that they suck at stopping the real pirates and only hurt the casual pirates .
