Apple today announced that it would step up and use the ZFS file system and make it compatible with OS X as of Leopard. The good news is twofold here, it means OS X’s filesystem is no longer Apple only and open source and it also means that Time Machine may use ZFS to work, something that’s only been rumored until now.
