Joost hits 1.0: still in beta

The IPTV software, Joost hit 1.0 today, but oddly still kept it’s beta tag. Wether this is just to keep some of the web 2.0 venture capital money or just to keep it invite-only is unclear, but this has to be the biggest update to it in it’s history.

The user interface has been very well redesigned and now works the way you’d expect it to, it looks a lot more web 2.0, with rounded corners everywhere, no sharp angles anywhere. Other than the interface, the network reliability has been enhanced. Because it’s P2P, it will have to deal with packet shaping through a lot of providers, it does what it should pretty well, with less stalling and higher throughput. On the vista version of it, it now requires admin rights to install, but that’s not really a problem, especially if you’re secure.
