Micro USB: The ubiquitous Nokia charger Mk.2

The Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP) group, whose members include Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, LG, and Nokia, have decided that Micro USB will be the new charging/data standard for new phones. This is good news on several counts.

  • Everyone will have the same power connector
  • Phones will be thinner, thanks to the new, thinner connector
  • Phones will be more environmentally friendly

I suppose this will all be great, until USB 3.0 is more widely adopted
