USB 3.0 coming, will increase transfer speeds tenfold

USB 3.0 improves upon its successors by adding fiber-optic cable inside alongside the copper wiring, greatly increasing the speeds to somewhere in the region of 4.8gb/s.

 All in all, this looks to kill firewire dead, but better than that, it allows very fast connections to drives, so it can only be a good thing. It’d also be pretty cool to see if it’d work to network, similar to firewire.
