Has Apple forgotten about the ?TV?

After the recent move by the cupertino firm, allowing wifi access to the music store via their new mobile devices, Apple seems to have completely forgotten about their “side project”: ?TV

The WiFi iTunes store would be perfect for video or audio downloads to the player, but strangely it hasn’t been implemented. The most likely candidates for explanations are:

  • No support in software for a WiFi sync of the purchases back to the host computer
  • Lack of HD TV shows on iTunes
  • Lack of interest from broadcasters

With NBC universal pulling out of iTunes over pricing, the wedge is certainly there, as there’s rumor towards both a price drop on TV shows, from $1.99 to $0.99 and also movie rentals over iTunes, only time will tell on this one.
