09.05Director Ridley Scott: ‘Internet Killing Cinema’

Just another way to show how backwards traditional media is: Hot on the heels of Elton John’s idiotic rant about the internet killing music comes another tragically old fashioned look at new technology.
Director Ridley Scott is quoted by zeropaid.com as saying “I’m sure we’re on a losing wicket, but we’re fighting technology”, it’s a bit sad when you can see what you’re doing but just pandering to it and not letting the market take you where it needs you to go.
It really sounds like he’s on the ball when he talks about the lack of decent content though, probably more of a reason for falling ticket sales at cinemas rather than piracy, as it’s a totally different experience
I think movies are getting dumber, actually. Where it used to be 50/50, now it’s 3% good, 97% stupid.
All in all, this is pretty two sided, as directors such as Scott himself are the reason people actually go to the cinema, rather than renting or downloading but it’s pretty obvious that the Motion Picture Association are more content blaming pirates for falling sales, rather than their own sloppy work.
